AR Rahman’s Release From Hospital

Renowned composer AR Rahman was recently hospitalized in Chennai due to dehydration but has since been discharged and is recovering well.

Following his release, his estranged wife, Saira Banu, addressed the public to clarify their marital status.

In an audio message, Saira Banu expressed her well wishes for Rahman’s health and emphasized that, although they are currently separated, they are not legally divorced. She stated, “I want to tell all of you that we are not officially divorced; we are still husband and wife. It’s just that we are separated because I was not feeling well for the last two years, and I didn’t want to stress him too much.”

She also requested that the media refrain from referring to her as Rahman’s “ex-wife,” highlighting that their separation was primarily due to her health concerns.

The couple, who married in 1995, announced their separation in November 2024 after 29 years together. They have three children: Khatija, Raheema, and Ameen. Despite the separation, both have maintained mutual respect and continue to support each other publicly.
